Are you living your life by you personal core values? Do you even know what your personal core values are?
Identifying personal core values is all about what’s most important to you. Below is a list of 54 values from our deck of 360 Degree Woman Value Cards.
1. Take 2 minutes – only 2 minutes– to go through the list. Select 12 values – only 12.
2. Of those 12 values, take 1 minute – only 1 minute – to select 6 of the 12 values – only 6. These 6 values reveal your personal core values.
3. Of your 6 values, take 30 seconds – only 30 seconds – to select 2 values – only 2. These 2 values reveal the uncompromising values you choose to live by.
The key is to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Please do not take more time than allotted to select your values; you will ponder too much. When we ponder, we are operating from our mind instead of our heart. Our personal core values are a matter of our heart. Be mindful that your personal core values may change. Give yourself permission to change your values.
Once you identify your values, the question is—are you living by your values? Do your daily activities line up with your values? Do your goals intelligently connect with your values? Does your life—the way you care for yourself, the way you interact, and your career pursuits—reflect your values?
Why do our values matter? Knowing our values helps with self-awareness. Understanding and living by our values will influence our choices in life. Without values, we may wander from one thing to another, or jump on anything that seems like a good idea, or spend our time doing things that are not important to us.
